Four people died in a plane crash at a small Moab airport Sunday night. The Grand County Sheriff reported the crash happened at about 8:30 p.m. at the Canyonlands Field Airport, located just North of Moab. Four occupants in the plane did not survive the crash, officials said. Further information about the individuals in the aircraft was not made available as family members are notified of the deaths. A state senator from North Dakota, his wife and their two young children died when the small plane they were traveling in crashed in Utah, a Senate leader said Monday. Doug Larsen’s death was confirmed Monday in an email that Republican Senate Majority Leader David Hogue sent to his fellow senators and was obtained by the Associated Press. The plane crashed Sunday evening shortly after taking off from Canyonlands Airfield about 15 miles north of Moab, according to a Grand County Sheriff’s Department statement posted on Facebook. The sheriff’s office said all four people on board the plane were killed. “Senator Doug Larsen, his wife Amy, and their two young children died in a plane crash last evening in Utah,” Hogue wrote in his email. “They were visiting family in Scottsdale and returning home. Eyewitness footage shows the moment a Russian made Ilyushin Il-76 transport aircraft overran the runway and exploded following a landing at Gao International Airport (GAQ) in Mali on Saturday, September 23, 2023. An aircraft of the Italian acrobatic air team the Frecce Tricolori crashed on Saturday during a practice run outside the northern city of Turin, killing a child on the ground. The plane or parts of the plane reportedly struck a car carrying a family, killing a 5-year-old girl. A 9-year-old and the parents were being treated for burns, according to Italian news agency ANSA. The pilot ejected and also reportedly suffered burns. Video of the crash shows nine aircraft in two tight V-formations, before one of the aircraft drops below the others and crashes, sending a fireball into the air. In the video, the pilot can be seen ejecting with a parachute shortly before impact inside a fence airfield. The crash reportedly happened after takeoff from the Turin Caselle airport, near the industrial northern city. There was no immediate word on the pilot’s condition or the reason for the crash. Photos of the aftermath show the wreckage of the plane in a cornfield, and a burned and wrecked car overturned on the side of a road. The Frecce Tricolori is Italy’s premier team of acrobatic pilots, part of the Italian air force, much like the British Red Arrows. They typically perform dramatic flybys at events of national importance, leaving streaks of red, green and white smoke for the colors of the Italian flag. One of planes during the shoot malfunctioned and crashed near Half Moon Bay, about 9 miles from San Francisco. The single-engine Beechcraft Bonanza lost power. The harrowing clips show desperate passengers fleeing 100ft flames after an emergency landing at Sheremetyevo airport. The aircraft, en route from New York City to Seoul, had strayed off course and entered Soviet airspace, which resulted in it being mistaken for a military threat. The tragic event claimed the lives of all 269 passengers and crew members on board. The incident caused an international outcry and increased tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. One significant consequence of the downing of Flight 007 was its role in the development and accessibility of GPS (Global Positioning System). The incident highlighted the need for accurate and reliable navigation systems to prevent similar tragedies. In response, the United States government decided to make the GPS technology available for civilian use. Initially, GPS was primarily used by the military, with limited access granted to civilians. However, recognizing the importance of a global positioning system for civilian safety and navigation, the United States government initiated efforts to open up GPS for public use. In 2000, they removed the intentional degradation of civilian signals, known as Selective Availability (SA), which provided users with full location accuracy. This decision to make GPS widely available revolutionized various industries, including transportation, aviation, logistics, and personal navigation. It enabled accurate positioning, timing, and navigation services that have since become integral to everyday life. DRAMATIC moment a single-engine plane piloted by Queens Assemblyman Clyde Vanel experienced an engine malfunction and had to make an emergency landing along a beach in Long Island, New York, on March 17. No injuries were reported, according to local news. Video recorded by Caelyn Canace, who happened to be walking her dog on the beach while on a lunch break, shows the plane landing on Long Island’s Shoreham Beach. “You can imagine, it was not a regular walk on our beach,” Canace told Storyful. “I realized that something did not look right, and then I was thinking, oh my god this plane was going down.” Vanel posted to Facebook, saying that after his aircraft experienced an “engine failure,” he “landed the airplane at the nearest safe location, while attempting to minimize damage to persons or property.” “I am thankful that I was able to walk away without injury,” Vanel said. Horrifying moment private jet crashes and explodes in a huge fireball in Malaysia. This is the horrifying moment a private jet flying from a luxury holiday island crashed and exploded in a huge fireball on a busy Malaysian road, killing everyone on board and two unfortunate motorists. The plane nosedived onto the tarmac in the town of Elmina in Shah Alam, Selangor province, shortly before 3pm local time after departing from the holiday island of Langkawi. Shocking video of the crash showed how the plane immediately erupted into flames as it smashed into the concrete, while a clip of the aftermath saw the wreckage billowing black smoke after it veered off the road and onto the nearby grass verge.
