Was it a worthwhile investment? How does it run? How is Woodland Mills customer service? What surprised us the most about the mill? We answer all these questions & more! We go over the PROS & CONS of our Woodland Mills SAWMILL. We’ll cut straight to the point & tell you EXACTLY what we think of our Woodland Mill—no sugarcoating here! (If you want sugarcoating, grab a donut to enjoy while you watch! 🍩😝)
In this video we max out our Woodland Mills HM126 Sawmill with a huge 24 inch oak log! The sawmill and trailer that we built handled the massive log with ease! We got over 30 nice pieces of lumber from one log! We will use this limber to build our woodworking shop next summer. Happy sawing and let us know if you have any questions! Thanks for watching another Collins Country video where we work to become homesteaders more and more everyday. This year my wife and I decided that to go ahead and purchase a sawmill! And with some help from my father-in-law we bought and assembled it here just a few weeks ago. Today I'm cutting some elm, our largest log so far, so I wanted to take a few minutes and show you some of the features to explain why we decided to go with this mill. Thus far we have been impressed by the engineering that went into this design and how user friendly it is. Even though this is our first mill, we haven't been overwhelmed by it's complexity. The manuals are well written and we've already made some pretty neat cuts. With any luck, it will serve us for many years to come!
Are portable sawmills worth buying? Which do I think is better: a bandsaw mill or a chainsaw mill? Is it possible to make a living with your own portable sawmill? What do I think of the Woodland Mills product? ...Stay tuned to find out! *Update: After watching this video, Woodland Mills contacted me to let me know that they have in fact, made a trailer for their sawmills. Here is the followup video I do on that: 🤍 My $60 Sawmill Tool Shed- 🤍 Bunkhouse / Tool Shed Construction! 🤍 Log Cabin on a Budget series- 🤍

With the newly installed Woodland Mills Sawmill Power Head fully functional and ready to go, I'm dropping a red pine and hauling it up onto my sawmill to try out this new accessory. One thing is for certain, I'm not getting any younger and although I wouldn't rather do anything other than cut lumber for hours on end, the fatigue can set in after raising and lowering the saw head using the crank handle. My hope is that this 12v electric sawmill power head accessory will help keep me rested and eliminate one of the less-than-fun tasks of raising the saw head so that I can keep sawing and make more lumber with less effort. I'm liking how this accessory uses my existing 12v battery to power it. Today will test whether the functionality of this accessory is up to the task of sawing or whether it's best left to the old hand crank. Glad you're all here to see how this goes. Here we go! Lumber prices are extremely high! My wife and I and our four daughters live off-grid on 80 acres in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. We have access to lots of trees. I wanted to see for myself how a cheaper entry-level sawmill works. So Jason from Homesteading Northern Michigan on YouTube invited me over to show me how to run his Woodland Mills HM122. My very first time using a mill. I thought it would be a good idea to video it and share with you. Enjoy! Homesteading Northern Michigan link below 🤍
Days like today are pretty exciting for me. After years of running Woodland Mills equipment on my woodlot doing all kinds of chores including chipping wood and sawing lumber, today is finally the day I get to see much of the equipment I have only seen on the computer in person. I'm touring the new Woodland Mills showroom in Port Perry Ontario today with some very knowledgable tour guides. In fact, there probably isn't anyone else that is more knowledgable about Woodland Mills equipment than these two as my tour guides are the founders of the Woodland Mills company and avid sawyers themselves. Josh and Neil are showing me around the showroom today and talking about the equipment currently available. We will also get a sneak peak at the new Woodland Mills electric up and down saw-head accessory that is soon-to-be released to the public. This I'm excited for. Glad you're all here for the tour! I have finally opened the boxes and got these babies set up and put to work! In this video I take you along with me as I set up both the Woodland Mills tooth setter and the Grindlux 4000 bandsaw blade sharpener, and trial them out for the first time. I have yet to open my sawmill. The snow stayed a long time this year, plus we were away at the off-grid property for a couple of weeks. (and searching for Scout took up a lot of time too). Now it is pouring rain everyday! 🤪 I hope to get the mill open very soon (this upcoming week), and although I don't have any major pressing things to mill right now, I do need some 2x4 type material for bracing of my cabin build, and need to mill some cedar boards as we have our little ore car hot tub project sitting in the carport now too!! 😉🤩 As always, thanks for watching and see you all again soon!

I'm breaking it down today and talking about the key differences between my old-trusty Woodland Mills HM130 which I bought back in 2017 and my new 2022 HM130max. Looking from the outside in, it may not be apparent that there are any differences at all. On closer inspection however, the differences are quite numerous and make the new 2022 HM130max quite an upgrade. Today I"ll show you those fine details up close so you know exactly why I made the jump to the new sawmill. You'll also get a good up close look at both sawmills and their features in the event that you're looking to either upgrade or buy yourself your first sawmill. With a couple years of sawing under my belt, I'll tell you why I like some features as opposed to others. Glad you're all here for the show. Here we go! My opinion on this sawmill is probably one of the most asked questions I get (other than if Steve is my Dad! 😜🤭). In this video I will give you my honest opinion about this sawmill! I will show you how I have mine set up and a few things I would change about that. * This is NOT a sponsored video! * I tried to be keep it as real as possible, sharing some pros and cons. I also tried to remember all this little details I wanted to say, but usually forget a few things as I'm trying to keep the video time down, and often draw blanks when trying to speak to a camera. Stuff I left out - I mill mostly softer woods as that is what we have on our land (hemlock, pine, cedar, aspen), and this sawmill performs well with these woods. I have never milled any hardwoods. It cuts straight good lumber, and I usually don't have problems with wavy boards (unless the blade is dull/pitchy, or the blade guides are not set tight enough). Maybe I could have done a better job on this review if I was answering specific questions, so if you have any questions please go ahead and ask! I will do my best to answer them in the comments. 😊 Have a great weekend everyone and see you in the next video! Michelle 💕

Back at the Woodland Mills hm126 sawmill again. Today I will be trying out my first attempt at quarter sawing. I have a couple cherry logs at the mill and even though cherry is not very commonly quarter sawed, i figured i would give it a try anyway. Quarter sawed lumber is defined as having the annular growth rings intersect the face of the board at between a 60 and 90 degree angle. Oak and Maple are most commonly used in quarter sawing, but since i do not have any of that on hand i decided to use cherry instead. Quarter sawed lumber gives the grain a different look in the board and it is also stronger and less prone to cupping. The negative aspect of it is that it produces more waste and is more expensive to buy. There is lots to learn in the world of a new sawyer and this is just one more thing I was anxious to try. As always thanks for watching Chris
