The ESP32-WROOM-32 is a powerful and versatile module that's commonly used in electronics projects. However, soldering the module can be a bit challenging due to its small size and delicate components. In this tutorial, I'll guide you through the process of soldering an ESP32-WROOM-32 module step-by-step, using the right tools and techniques to ensure a successful result. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced electronics enthusiast, this tutorial will help you learn how to solder an ESP32-WROOM-32 module like a pro, so you can use it in your DIY projects with confidence. ESP32-WROOM-32 is a powerful, generic Wi-Fi + Bluetooth + Bluetooth LE MCU module that targets a wide variety of applications, ranging from low-power sensor networks to the most demanding tasks, such as voice encoding, music streaming and MP3 decoding. At the core of this module is the ESP32-D0WDQ6 chip*. The chip embedded is designed to be scalable and adaptive. There are two CPU cores that can be individually controlled, and the CPU clock frequency is adjustable from 80 MHz to 240 MHz. The chip also has a low-power coprocessor that can be used instead of the CPU to save power while performing tasks that do not require much computing power, such as monitoring of peripherals. ESP32 integrates a rich set of peripherals, ranging from capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I2S and I2C. The integration of Bluetooth®, Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi ensures that a wide range of applications can be targeted, and that the module is all-around: using Wi-Fi allows a large physical range and direct connection to the Internet through a Wi-Fi router, while using Bluetooth allows the user to conveniently connect to the phone or broadcast low energy beacons for its detection. The sleep current of the ESP32 chip is less than 5 µA, making it suitable for battery powered and wearable electronics applications. The module supports a data rate of up to 150 Mbps, and 20 dBm output power at the antenna to ensure the widest physical range. As such the module does offer industry-leading specifications and the best performance for electronic integration, range, power consumption, and connectivity. The operating system chosen for ESP32 is freeRTOS with LwIP; TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration is built in as well. Programming ESP32-WROOM-32D on a custom board


I go through the process of programming an ESP32 when it is not on a dev module. I use a CP2102 to program my custom ESP32 module. This way you can make your own Wifi enabled projects much easier, and they run much better on a custom circuit board than on a breadboard. This is a part of my apartment automation project, more on that to come. I felt this process was not well documented on YouTube, or at least the hardships of it. It all boils down to putting it in boot mode(io0 low on reset) and power input capacitance. I got my boards from JLC PCB and they have done a great job! my exact CP2102: 🤍 I will not be updating the link if it goes down....

Programming the ESP32-WROOM-32 within Arduino


This tutorial explains the most basic setup on how to program the ESP32-WROOM or ESP32-F. It is a guide on what to select in the Arduino programming options menu. Make sure port IO0 (I/O zero) is connected to GND. Then press the RST button. Then you can press the program button in Arduino to program/upload the code to the ESP32-F. Once the programming was successful, disconnect the port IO0 from GND. Open the serial monitor window, set the appropriate speed as you have defined it in your code and then press the RST button on the ESP32-WROOM. Please stay safe and isolate! After many requests, I am finally bringing the ESP32 into the workshop, and it’s here to stay - I’ll be doing a lot of ESP32 projects going forward. And when you see all of the features that this incredible microcontroller has I’m sure you see why! The ESP32 is a microcontroller from Espressif Systems that has a wealth of features, including multiple I/O ports, analog inputs AND outputs, WiFi, Bluetooth and BLE, touch switches, timers, and real-time clocks, and much more. This inexpensive processor is available on a number of modules, some of which include displays, microSD card sockets or even cameras. Today we will get started using the ESP32. And the first thing we will do is set up our Arduino IDE to add the ESP32 boards to it. After we get our programming environment ready we'll write the obligatory “hello world” program, which for microcontrollers is the good old Blink sketch. You’ll see how uploading code to the ESP32 differs from the Arduino AVR boards we are used to using. Big brother of ESP-WROOM-32, ESP32-WROVER with 4MB PSRAM


This time I got ESP32-WROVER, which has 4MB PSRAM. Indeed main chip of WROOM and WROVER are the same but the latter has external (additional) PSRAM and it can be activated by compiling switch. (If we do not do anything about complile option, then WROVER is equivalent to WROOM. At this moment I don't explore well about this big brother but it should be fun to think about new application!!
